SceneSync is being released as a direct Android Package Kit (APK) download instead of through Google Play or the Apple App Store.
App store content policies are strict. Both Google Play and Apple’s App Store prohibit sexually explicit or pornographic content. While educational apps focused on safety and consent may be approved with careful moderation, policies are restrictive and enforcement can be unpredictable.

App store marketplace tracking is avoided. When you install from our website instead of Google Play, Google doesn’t track:
However, Android device-level protections still apply. Google Play Protect scans all apps on your device, including those installed from sources outside the Play Store. This is a security feature that helps protect against malware.
No advertising or cross-app tracking. SceneSync doesn’t include third-party advertising frameworks or cross-app tracking SDKs.

Important clarification: Some Firebase services (like Analytics and certain operational logging) have data controller aspects where Google may use aggregated, anonymized data to improve Firebase services.
You avoid the Google Play marketplace layer (store browsing, installation tracking, reviews), but all app functionality runs through Firebase (Google Cloud infrastructure). Your privacy is protected by Firebase’s data processing agreements and security measures, not by avoiding Google.
1. Download the App File
Click the download link provided on scenesync.app.
Your device will ask if you want to download the .apk file—choose Download.
2. Allow Installations from Your Browser
Android blocks unknown apps by default. To install safely:
When prompted, tap Settings.
Enable Allow from this source (your web browser).
Go back once the switch is on.
3. Install the App
Once the download finishes, tap Open or find the file in your Downloads folder.
Tap Install.
You’ll see a message confirming that SceneSync is installed.
4. Open and Use
SceneSync will appear in your app list like any other app.
Open it normally—no account data or private information is shared with Google.
Optional (Recommended): Turn Permissions Back Off
After installing, return to Settings → Apps → Your Browser → Install unknown apps, and toggle Allow from this source back off. This keeps your device secure for the future.
